Before you decide on an appraiser.....
1. All appraisers are NOT created equal.
-
Competency, Qualifications, and Experience matter. The appraiser you engage should offer how their experience, competency and qualifications will produce a reliable appraisal.
2. Know the etiquette around appraisals.
-
An appraisal is a detailed process. The appraiser you engage should be helping you to understand this process, what to expect, and what not to expect.
3. Appraisers are required to have college education.
-
Some areas of study that provide the right educational background for an appraiser would include finance, market research, business, and, in the case of the rural/ag appraiser, agricultural degrees. Don't be afraid to ask what type of college education appraisers have!
